The ocean is becoming more acidic as it absorbs CO2, threatening marine ecosystems and the people who depend on them. SAFESEA studies this process across global, regional and national scales, and develops indicators and decision-support tools to help authorities in Europe, Norway and Chile plan for these changes.
1) Advance scientific understanding of ocean acidification and its drivers. 2) Study impacts on ecosystems in under-observed regions like the Arctic. 3) Develop indicators and governance tools with national case studies. 4) Support global, regional and national climate adaptation policy.
This project has only just begun. We will update the content as soon as results become available.
