Builds shared, science-based tools to assess the environmental impact of crops used in bio-based industries.

Context

Crops like rapeseed, sugar beet, hemp and flax are increasingly used to make sustainable materials, but nobody has a clear, consistent way to measure their environmental footprint. SUSTAINCrop creates a shared database and digital tools so farmers, industry and policymakers can compare and improve the sustainability of these crops.

Main objectives

1) Build a harmonised framework for assessing crop sustainability. 2) Create a shared crop database and digital modelling tool. 3) Validate the framework with stakeholders in Europe and Latin America. 4) Support better decisions for farmers, industry and policymakers.

Main results

This project has only just begun. We will update the content as soon as results become available.
