Not defined

Builds better computer models to guide the restoration of forests, wetlands and grasslands across Europe.

Context

Restoring damaged ecosystems is a key EU goal, but planners lack good tools to predict how restoration will actually turn out under a changing climate. RestMod links leading ecosystem models together to simulate different restoration scenarios and produce maps and tools that practitioners and policymakers can actually use.

Main objectives

1) Develop an integrated framework for modelling ecosystem restoration. 2) Simulate restoration scenarios towards 2030 and 2050 targets. 3) Combine field data, remote sensing and genetic sampling (eDNA). 4) Deliver decision-support tools and restoration maps for policymakers.
