Coral reefs, mangroves and seagrass beds support island and coastal communities, but they’re usually studied and managed separately, missing how connected they really are. m-CONNECT studies these connections across Southeast Asia and the Pacific, working with local and Indigenous communities to develop practical conservation guidelines.
1) Investigate ecological connectivity between coral, mangrove and seagrass ecosystems. 2) Co-develop conservation guidelines with Indigenous and local communities. 3) Focus on fisheries, coastal protection and blue carbon benefits. 4) Strengthen governance capacity in the study regions.
