Not defined

Studies the psychological and social barriers stopping people from acting on biodiversity, and tests ways to overcome them.

Context

Most people care about nature but don’t act on it, held back by emotional or social barriers (‘dragons of inaction’). DRAGONS studies these barriers in five very different places — from Finnish forests to Colombian wetlands — and tests tools that help communities and citizens engage more actively in protecting nature.

Main objectives

1) Understand the emotional and social barriers to biodiversity action. 2) Co-create solutions with communities in five demonstration regions. 3) Develop tools (LANTERN, COMPASS) for engagement and inclusive governance. 4) Scale successful approaches through networks of local champions.
