Pan-European project scaling up genomic data production and standards to support biodiversity taxonomy, monitoring and policy.

Context

Understanding and protecting biodiversity requires huge amounts of genetic data, but today this data is produced in a fragmented way across Europe. BGE+ brings together the main European networks working on species genomics to standardise methods, share data more easily, and lay the groundwork for a future shared research infrastructure.

Main objectives

1) Broaden participation and build capacity across Europe. 2) Make genomic data production standardised and easily shareable (FAIR). 3) Turn genomic evidence into practical use cases for policy. 4) Design a future European infrastructure for biodiversity genomics.

Main results

This project has only just begun. We will update the content as soon as results become available.
