Not defined

Develops a real-time monitoring system to accurately track and report farm-level methane and nitrous oxide emissions.

Context

Farming produces significant methane and nitrous oxide emissions, but current tracking methods aren’t precise or fast enough for effective climate action. TRACER combines sensors, satellite data and modelling into a real-time platform, tested on nine pilot farms, to give more accurate emissions data for policy and markets.

Main objectives

1) Develop a near-real-time monitoring platform for farm emissions. 2) Combine sensors, Earth observation and farm activity data. 3) Test the system across nine pilots in diverse farming systems. 4) Help close the greenhouse gas reporting gap for EU climate targets.
