The Montreal Protocol has successfully reduced ozone-damaging chemicals, but recent measurements have found unexpected, unreported emissions that threaten this progress. REIGN-MP strengthens the international network monitoring these gases, testing cheaper technologies and closing gaps in coverage to keep the protocol effective.
1) Strengthen international governance of ozone-gas monitoring networks. 2) Establish a European Calibration Centre to secure key vulnerabilities. 3) Test new, lower-cost monitoring technologies. 4) Improve transparency and usability of data for policy compliance.
