Studies how mixtures of chemical pollutants and climate stress harm marine ecosystems and human health.

Context

The ocean is exposed to many different pollutants at once, and their combined effects are poorly understood. HARMONY develops new sensors, testing methods and AI models to study how these pollutant ‘cocktails’ affect marine life and people, working with partners in India to test the approach in real coastal areas.

Main objectives

1) Develop analytical tools and AI models for pollutant-mixture effects. 2) Test the approach at eight pilot sites in the EU and India. 3) Assess impacts on marine organisms, ecosystems and human health. 4) Deliver policy-relevant indicators and support EU-India research cooperation.
