Packaging labelled ‘compostable’ often still gets pulled out and thrown away at composting plants because facilities aren’t set up to handle it properly. COMPERF4EU studies the best-performing composting plants across 10 countries and creates practical guidance so compostable packaging can actually be composted as intended.
1) Analyse national policies and treatment systems for compostable packaging. 2) Benchmark composting plant performance using key indicators. 3) Develop a composting information tool and technical guidelines. 4) Deliver a policy roadmap to harmonise practices across Europe.
