Builds a more integrated, community-inclusive observing system for tracking rapid environmental change in the Arctic.

Context

The Arctic is changing fast, but the tools used to observe it aren’t well connected and often leave out Indigenous communities. Beyond Arctic PASSION works to link existing data systems together, add new sensors and technology, and involve Indigenous Peoples directly in monitoring their own environment.

Main objectives

1) Build an integrated, interoperable Arctic Observing System of Systems. 2) Improve data collection through autonomous sensors and community monitoring. 3) Ensure ethical, FAIR and Indigenous-inclusive data governance. 4) Strengthen Arctic and global climate policy through better evidence.
