Tests new schemes making manufacturers responsible for the end-of-life of their construction, furniture and ICT products.

Context

‘Extended Producer Responsibility’ rules are meant to make manufacturers care about what happens to their products after use, but they mostly boost recycling, not reuse or repair. DemoEPR runs practical pilots — especially for electronics — to design schemes that actually work better across the whole product life.

Main objectives

1) Analyse current EPR systems and their policy framework. 2) Run seven pilots on tracing, reuse and recycling of ICT products. 3) Test new circular business models and consumer engagement approaches. 4) Deliver a roadmap for improved European EPR policy.
