Studies demographic decline in rural Europe and co-designs local strategies to help communities adapt and thrive.

Context

Many rural areas in Europe are losing population as people move to cities, which creates real challenges for local economies and services. REROOTED works with communities to understand these demographic trends and test practical solutions, using a mapping tool to help policymakers foresee future impacts.

Main objectives

1) Build a socio-spatial typology of demographic change across the EU. 2) Develop a GIS-based tool for forecasting demographic impacts. 3) Co-create local innovations with frontrunner rural communities. 4) Share guidance and scale solutions via an EU-wide knowledge hub.
