MORSE

Not defined

Builds computer models to guide effective, climate-resilient restoration of Europe's marine habitats and species.

Context

Restoring damaged sea habitats works best when planners know what to expect. MORSE combines ecosystem and species-distribution models to predict how restoration actions will play out under climate change, and works directly with authorities to turn this knowledge into practical restoration plans.

Main objectives

1) Build an integrated modelling framework linking ecosystems, pressures and climate. 2) Improve the knowledge base available to national authorities. 3) Co-develop restoration pathways with authorities and practitioners. 4) Prioritise restoration actions using ecological, social and policy criteria.
