Connects farmers, industry and researchers to better manage and reward the environmental benefits of grass-based livestock farming.

Context

Grass-based livestock farms provide food and also important environmental services like carbon storage and clean water, but these benefits are often overlooked. GrassConnect studies how to measure and reward these services, connecting 13 hubs across 11 countries to share knowledge and improve decision-making tools for farmers and policymakers.

Main objectives

1) Define strategies to promote multifunctional grass-based farming. 2) Develop tools for monitoring ecosystem services and supporting decisions. 3) Connect a network of 13 hubs across 11 countries. 4) Support fair payment mechanisms for farmers delivering environmental benefits.
