Uses AI and synthetic biology to unlock marine microorganisms as a source of new medicines and bioactive compounds.

Context

Marine microorganisms could hold the key to new cancer treatments and other bioactive compounds, but most remain unexplored. AIMARIA uses AI to predict promising candidates, then engineers organisms to produce them sustainably at scale, following international rules on biodiversity access and benefit-sharing.

Main objectives

1) Use AI to prioritise promising marine biosynthetic targets. 2) Engineer microbial systems to produce these compounds sustainably. 3) Demonstrate production routes at pilot scale. 4) Ensure compliance with international biodiversity access frameworks.

Main results

This project has only just begun. We will update the content as soon as results become available.
