Operating strongly across the personal and practical spheres, with emerging political potential, it transforms displaced residents from people perceived as dependent or temporary into environmental custodians and community leaders. Restoration creates belonging and collective purpose, while partnerships with public and international institutions may strengthen community influence over local environmental governance.

Provides displaced families and other residents with recognition, participation, skills and a stronger connection to their new community. It brings together groups affected by conflict and environmental degradation.
Biodiversity
Directly restores and protects mangrove habitat in a highly biodiverse but heavily pressured coastal region. Activities include planting mangrove propagules, removing solid waste and raising awareness about mangrove fauna and ecosystem functions. Survival rates, restored area and changes in associated species should be monitored.
