Not defined

Uses advanced climate models to predict tipping points in ocean systems and their impact on marine life and society.

Context

Certain ocean systems, like major ocean currents, could reach a ‘tipping point’ and change abruptly with severe consequences for climate, ecosystems and coastal communities. OceanNexus uses cutting-edge climate and ecosystem models to study these risks across five European regions and develop early-warning tools.

Main objectives

1) Model climate-driven tipping points in ocean systems. 2) Study impacts across five European coastal regions. 3) Develop AI tools to detect early warning signals. 4) Deliver policy-ready indicators and support international climate assessments.
