Many natural ingredients used in cosmetics, food and medicine come from wild plants that are over-harvested, which harms biodiversity. ORIGIN builds a digital, AI-powered platform that designs and tests microorganisms able to produce these ingredients in a lab instead, making the process faster, cheaper and more sustainable.
1) Build an AI-powered database and design tools to find and engineer new production pathways. 2) Develop and test microbial strains that produce target molecules. 3) Demonstrate production at pilot scale for at least 3 molecules. 4) Cut development time, land use and emissions compared to current methods.
