Nature-based solutions (NBS) offer transformative potential for addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and social justice. However, as the value of NBS is increasingly contested, it is important to learn more about the synergies and trade-offs of implementing NBS at scale. The EU-funded NATURESCAPES project aims to understand how NBS can benefit diverse communities facing socio-economic challenges, inequity, and risk. The project will analyse 30 naturescapes across Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the US, and focus on 12 case studies to create new insights and tools. In seven of these cases, the project will co-design interventions with local collaborators to test transformative theories and practices of change.
