Operating across the personal, practical and political spheres, it restores the legitimacy of Indigenous agriculture and challenges the belief that Australian food production began with European farming. It practically demonstrates native, lower-input food systems and may influence agricultural research, land management and policy towards Indigenous-led approaches.

Supports Indigenous self-determination, employment, enterprise and control over cultural and agricultural knowledge. Workshops enable intergenerational and cross-community knowledge exchange.
Biodiversity
Native perennial grasses and bushfoods can support plant diversity, soils and habitat while requiring less irrigation, fertiliser and herbicide than many conventional crops. Cultural burning may improve landscape condition and habitat diversity.
