Illegal fishing is hard to detect and stop with traditional methods. FIDEL combines smart vessel tracking, IoT gear tags, electronic logbooks, satellite surveillance, AI image recognition and portable DNA testing into one system, making it much harder for illegal practices to go unnoticed.
1) Digitalise fisheries monitoring using IoT, AI and satellite tools. 2) Detect illegal fishing practices in real time. 3) Strengthen implementation of the EU Landing Obligation. 4) Support sustainable fisheries management through tamper-proof data sharing.
